Election Day Workers are an important component of the elections process. Election Day Workers are the front-line representation of the Supervisor of Elections office. Often, a voter may never see an SOE staff member, but will see Election Day Workers at their polling location on Election Day.
Broward County Election Day Workers are highly trained individuals who are active voters, serving their community and local government proudly. Election Day Workers interact well with the public and work well in stressful situations. To become a Broward County Election Day Worker, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a registered voter in Broward County.
- You must fill out an Election Day Workers Application.
- You must attend a minimum of 4 hours of training.
Poll Worker Job Descriptions
*CLERK - $350
The Clerk manages overall tasks, activities and the poll workers in the polling place; it is a supervisory position. Visits assigned precinct the day before the Election to setup the precinct with the VST and verifies all supplies have been delivered. Returns Election Day materials to assigned Regional Site on Election Night.
*ASSISTANT CLERK - $230
Assists the Clerk and shares his/her duties as needed and may substitute for the Clerk if they are unable to serve. Assists voters who need a Provisional Ballot.
*EPB OPERATOR - $220
EPB OPERATOR - Confirms voter eligibility in the Electronic Poll Book at the check-in table and issues voting passes to eligible voters.
*BALLOT INSPECTOR - $205
Collects voting pass from each voter and issues appropriate ballot according to the ballot style on the voting pass. Issues voter a replacement ballot if error is made by the voter.
*VOTING SYSTEM TECHNICIAN (VST) - $325-$340
Sets up the precinct the day before the Election with the Clerk; provides technical support to the voters on the Optical Scanner in the precinct or with the ExpressVote (ADA unit) on Election Day; and returns equipment and materials to Voting Equipment Center on Election Night.
*BACKUP VOTING SYSTEM TECHNICIAN (VST) - $275
Sets up the precinct the day before the Election with the Clerk; provides technical support to the voters on the Optical Scanner in the precinct or with the ExpressVote (ADA unit) on Election Day.
*EARLY VOTING POLLWORKER $12 - $18 HR
BASED ON POSITION Performs overall tasks of an early voting site for two weeks prior to the election. Sets up and breaks down site, verifies voter's eligibility using the EViD (Electronic Voter IDentification Pollbook) and issues ballots to the voters.
*POLL DEPUTY - $200
Maintains order outside the polling place. Posts signs/notices, monitors No Solicitation zone, stands at end of line at 7pm to signify end of voting day.
*TRUCK DRIVERS AND HELPERS - $175 - $200
Drivers and Helpers for election night equipment and supplies pick up.
CALL CENTER OPERATOR - $205
Responsible for answering calls from polling places and the public on Election Day, responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
*In order to participate, you must be a registered Broward County voter.
WAREHOUSE STAFF - $18 HR
General Warehouse Duties - Assist with Election preparation process. Assist with Packing, Staging, Shipping and/or receiving Equipment and Supplies.
Total payment next to each position includes payment for training. Training is not paid if you do not work Election Day.
