Initiative Petitions and Amendments

Proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution may be made by a joint resolution of the Florida Legislature, a citizens' initiative, a proposal from the Constitutional Revision Commission, or a proposal from the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission. Proposed amendments require at least 60% approval from voters to pass (see Florida Constitution, Article XI, Section 5(e)). More information about Florida's petition process can be found on the Division of Elections website.

Pursuant to Florida law, Broward County’s signature verification fee for an initiative petition is $3.50 per petition.

Our office will accept initiative petitions during the 90-day moratorium required in HB1205.  Committees may postpone payment for petition verification until we begin processing petitions on October 1, 2025.
